Nazis on Shore-Leave originally started out as a blog on blogger so that I could record all my ramblings, thoughts, opinions, and published work into one coherent digital junk drawer. However as time went one, which was roughly only a few months I began to feel some of the limitations of blogger and the restrictions it imposed on my God given right to express myself. As such I dipped into my funds and shelled out a few dollars to create my own blog free of moderation. I have managed to receive some criticism so hopefully me writing this will clear up a lot of misconceptions.
First of all the title usually garners the most criticism. I’m not a Nazi, never said I was but I thought the title “Nazis on Shore-Leave” was funny. While not a Nazi one can describe me as a racist or a bigot, but in my defense who isn’t? Apparently some people just can’t get pissed at the word “Nazi”. Well to them I say this, Nazis on Shore-Leave is more of an expression and I am probably not the first one to use it. We all know that Nazis, as well as any soldier for that matter, have garnered a reputation for being rowdy while in port. Usually when a surface vessel or submarine comes into port the sailors are permitted “shore-leave”. “Shore-leave” is what a civilian may consider a “vacation”. Basically sailors fill out some paperwork and when everything is in order they can unwind and take in some much needed rest and relaxation in the country of port. Usually a group of young men that have been restrained to the confines of a ship tend to become very rowdy while on leave and act in a rambunctious or unbecoming manner. Hence the title “Nazis on Shore-Leave” which I think sums up the posting, opinions, and digital drama that unfold here.
I tend to keep my postings some restricted in that I usually post about issues relating to the military, tactics, weapons, and occasionally I go out of my comfort zone and create post with relation to the world in which we all live. Occasionally I also post reviews and thoughts on entertainment, and this usually includes all forms ranging from music to pornographic films.
As for me personally, heh. My life has been anything but conventional. I guess you can say I’m a prisoner of this world but have still managed to remain free. As the saying goes, “freedom isn’t free”. I’ve had a interesting life and have learned to take things easy. I love fast cars, women, firearms, excellent food, fine cinema, music, and freedom. I’m not overly religious and have been known to contradict myself sometimes. My blog may paint an abstract picture of myself, sometimes I say mean and hateful things and other times I give important insight or at least what I think is “important”. I don’t talk too much in detail about my personal life, profession, retirement, age, etc. I can best be described as that guy who you never knew existed but have always been good friends with.
As you can tell from my post, I detest gadgetry, ignorance and lack of sophistication or taste in individuality. I’ve been told I’m highly opinionated and hard to please. I don’t necessarily think that is true, I just have a low tolerance for certain things. I believe music and art should be taken a lot more seriously than they are. Globally, people don’t take education important enough, as a result we live in a world of perpetual arrogance and ignorance.
I used to be a lot more patriotic in my youth, now I don’t really care. I am only concerned with the pursuit of freedom.
“The nation that will insist upon drawing a broad line of demarcation between the fighting man and the thinking man is liable to find its fighting done by fools and its thinking by cowards.”
